A different kind of piano lesson
Most piano tuition is one lesson a week. Here, every student has two contacts with the studio each week, four recitals a year, and every book they need — all in one monthly fee.
A private lesson
One-to-one each week, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, in my home studio in Bath.
A group class
Every student also comes to a weekly group class for performance, theory and musicianship.
Four recitals a year
Every student performs in four studio recitals each year. There is always something to prepare for.
All music included
Method books, repertoire, theory and sight-reading are all covered by the fee — much of it from books Keith wrote or edited.

Taught properly, from the very first lesson
Two lessons a week, not one.
Every student has a private lesson and a group class each week — so there's a reason to be ready twice, and friends to play for.
Taught from the source.
Much of what your child plays comes from books Keith wrote or edited — Piano Town, the Piano Repertoire series, Fundamentals of Piano Theory and Scale Skills — used by teachers around the world. See the books.
Real musicianship, built slowly and properly.
Confident reading, playing in all 12 keys, and four recitals a year. In his words: "I proceed slowly and thoroughly in the early years of lessons to ensure secure and confident progress."

Frequently asked questions
How old does my child need to be to start?
Get in touch and tell me your child's age — we'll talk it through on the phone.
What does the monthly fee include?
Everything. The monthly fee covers 40 private lessons, 36 group classes, four recitals, and all music and materials. It is paid in ten equal instalments by bank transfer on the 1st of each month, September to June. See the fees page.
What is the weekly group class?
Every student attends one group class each week alongside their private lesson. It is part of the balanced course of repertoire, technique, theory and performance: a chance to play for others, to work on theory and musicianship together, and to be ready twice a week rather than once.
How much should my child practise?
It depends on the year. In the first six months, 15–20 minutes a day, six days a week. By the second year, 45 minutes. From the third year, an hour. It need not be done in one sitting. Read the full practice guide.
What happens if we miss a lesson?
No make-ups are given for missed lessons. If I miss a scheduled lesson, it will be made up. I occasionally give extra (or longer) lessons at no charge, depending on need and available time.
Do we need a piano at home?
Daily practice is essential, so your child will need an instrument at home. I'm happy to advise on choosing one.
Do students take exams?
Every student performs in four studio recitals a year. Ask me about graded exams when you enquire. Recitals and exams.
Where are lessons held?
